The latest issue of the journal Joint Stock Company: Corporate Governance Issues features a review of the new conceptual framework of the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO), together with a comparative analysis of the proposed corporate governance principles against current Russian regulatory requirements and established business practices. The COSO frameworks for risk management and internal control are widely recognised and recommended for application by, among others, the Bank of Russia. The author of the material is Ekaterina Shishkina, FBK’s Head of Practice at Audit and Advisory to Financial Institutions.
‘The growing expectations of stakeholders and the rising demands on corporate governance practices of economic entities, driven by state policy and national economic priorities, suggest that further regulatory development and enhanced oversight in this area are to be expected. The COSO framework offers a practical tool for assessing corporate practices and identifying areas for improvement for boards of directors and other parties involved in corporate governance processes, including corporate secretaries, internal auditors, risk management professionals, and institutional investors,’ the author notes.
The full article on the 12 COSO corporate governance principles, as well as on comparable legislative requirements and business practice, is available on the website by subscription.
