FBK at Press Conference Arranged by UN Global Compact Local Network

13.12.2018FBK Grant Thornton’s President Sergey Shapiguzov has spoken at the press conference titled “Russian Business and Sustainable Development” that was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the UN and the 10th anniversary of the UN Global Compact Local Network in Russia.
According to Mr. Shapiguzov, it is not easy to integrate sustainability instruments in strategies of Russian businesses. The survey conducted by the UN Global Compact Local Network in cooperation with FBK shows that only 25% of companies associate their strategies with the SDGs. Only a narrow group of consultants can help solve this problem. The head of FBK also mentioned that the firm provides almost a third of all non-financial assurance services in Russia.
“Non-financial reporting regulations are still in development and there are not many sustainability experts. That is why FBK Grant Thornton not only provides services that are in many respects unique for Russia and contributes to the development of professional standards, but also trains new specialists. For instance, we are the only Russian firm certified as a GRI training partner,” said Sergey Shapiguzov.
The UN Global Compact is the world`s largest corporate sustainability initiative, a call to companies to align strategies and operations with universal principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, an attempt to mobilize a global movement of sustainable companies and stakeholders.
