FBK Experts took part in the DIRECTUM Partnership Workshop

In February in Izhevsk a traditional “DIRECTUM Partnership Forum” took place. All the company’s partners were invited to take part in it. The authors of most interesting and large-scale projects were given an opportunity to share their successful experience with the professional community.
FBK was presented at the forum by the experts of the Corporate Management Systems Department Ilya Chechil, Ivan Lopashov and Boris Gustyakov. They told the Forum participants about a sector pilot project implemented by FBK – the development of an electronic archive management system and the interface of two different data-systems: DIRECTUM and the Client’s own. The FBK report of “Establishment of an electronic archive management system in a large organization” aroused a great interest of the participants.
According to the presenters the objective for implementing the system was to create a single documentation space for the organization including the implementation of the archive management system, the integration of the archive management system with the client’s system of electronic circulation of documents, the automation of archive administration processes, improving the archive documents usability and productivity for the Client’s users.
As the result of the system implementation, an IT-infrastructure was generated allowing users to transfer retro-documents into an electronic form, to store the archives of documents and transfer them to other locations (the task was solved of electronic archive data transfer to several different depositories and the State Archive of the Russian Federation), to amend the records including the archives and save the changed archive records with preserving the integrity of the array and metadata. There is confidence that the use of archive management system will enable the Client to optimizing the costs associated with the storage and retrieval of archive documents.
The project of the electronic archive management system implementation is a unique task in terms of quantities of documents to be processed (at least 1 million archive records per year, a tremendous bulk of historical data to be transferred, a huge range of metadata and an essential daily archives increment), and the implementation technologies: the use of web-services to integrate various DBMS, to combine the electronic and paper documents storage functions.
“The forum allowed us to demonstrate the qualification of our department, to attract other designers to the mutually beneficial interaction. It is not excluded that we will be able to apply these solutions on creation and optimization of a large-scale electronic archive for the organization not only in this assignment but in other projects, too, to create a kind of industrial specialization within the department,” said Elena Solomatina, the head of the FBK corporate management systems department. “This direction is very promising and will be actively developed; our expertise allows us to participate in the projects on creating electronic archives of documents of any size and complexity”.
The partners also presented the following reports at the forum: The Olympic Project of Implementing DIRECTUM, “Vendor-Partner” successful example of interaction: replication of EDS in the Republic of Udmurtiya Government, Integration of Prestima, DIRECTUM and 1С to solve financial tasks.
The specialists of DIRECTUM told the forum participants about the system new capabilities; conducted master-classes and consultations for the designers, panel discussions on the topical issues.
