FBK Grant Thornton has audited the environmental responsibility rating of Russian oil and gas companies prepared by the World Wildlife Fund and CREON Capital S.a.r.l. This rating has been prepared for the sixth year in a row but its independent assurance has been conducted for the first time.
Partner Vladimir Skobarev says that the auditors had to verify whether the rating results complied with the methodology.
“Sustainability ratings are becoming more and more significant each year. They are currently used as important tools to provide external assessment of corporate social responsibility and independent assurance of these ratings certainly makes them more trustworthy,” he says.
The rating has been annually published since 2014 in order to obtain objective and comparable information about transparency of Russian oil and gas companies and their impact on the environment. The rating is publicly available, which provides for better quality of environmental risk management and exposure reduction in the oil and gas sector.
