The MSU Department of Economics hosted a panel conference the
2016 December Debates under the partnership of
FBK Grant Thornton. Historically, the conference has brought together experts to discuss audit, compliance, risk management and control issues. This year the event has attracted over 200 business players, experts and academicians.
In his welcoming words,
Alexander Auzan, Dean at the MSU Department of Economics, made a point that the event’s appeal among the professional community has grown, “I can judge about the success of the previous year’s conference by this year’s attendance which has obviously grown. As lecturers we know that the lecturer’s success is determined not by the attendance at the first lecture, but rather, say, at the fourth lecture. If students are still there, it means they recognise the value and importance of the subject. So, a three-fold growth of professional audience, when we talk about professional and sound experts, suggests itself.”
Vladimir Chaya, Chair of the Working Group of the Audit Board at the Ministry of Finance, further stressed the importance of the conference as a platform to establish strategic benchmarks for the development of the audit industry and profession. Mr Chaya pointed out that “today’s the Federal Treasury authority, the MoF of Russia and the Government are focused mostly on the strategic fundamentals of the further development of the audit activity without which the audit market will have no without aim or direction.”
According to
Irina Sukhova, Vice President for Corporate Management at FBK Grant Thornton, the December Debates have gained prominence as one of the much coveted events. In her closing remarks, Irina Sukhova said, “It is the event’s practical value that attracts professionals. Our conference best answers this purpose. This year’s conference gave an opportunity for scores of managers from local and foreign leading companies, representatives from field-specific government authorities and sector’s experts to discuss the most pressing issues and share best practices. We appreciate the contribution of our partners and colleagues and look forward to seeing all of you at the next year’s conference. We have much in store for you.”
