FBK GT’s Partner Speaks at the IMF Advisory Committee Meeting

Date of publication
24.09.2019

Irina Dubinina, Partner and Director of Public Sector Advisory at FBK Grant Thornton, has participated in a meeting of the IMF Government Finance Statistics Advisory Committee in Washington, D.C.

Her speech was dedicated to the valuation of stock positions in financial assets, in particular the valuation of nonperforming loans and untraded equity. The actual value of those assets are often overstated and there are no effective financial claims in some cases.

“The negative difference between the budgetary funds spent to acquire financial assets and their market value means that taxpayers incur losses, which raises questions about the long-term sustainability of the budgetary policy and the consequences of such policy for the national well-being,” Irina Dubinina said.

Materials prepared for the Advisory Committee meeting are available here.

The IMF Government Finance Statistics Advisory Committee consists of representatives of international organisations and internationally recognised experts in government finance statistics-related matters.
