FBK President took part in the Olympic Torch Relay

At the segment of the relay in the diamond capital of Russia – the city of Mirny – Sergey Shapiguzov, FBK President, carried the Olympic flame.

“The Olympic Torch Relay is an important event for the whole country and it is great honour for me to accept the invitation of the 2014 Olympic Committee to take part in the relay,” noted the head of the company. – I was offered to make my choice from the list of about forty different cities. I’ve chosen Mirny City. FBK has a lot to be connected with this city, ALROSA, our long-term partners, work there; many of our employees have been to the city on business”.

People well-known in the city and the republic took part in the Mirny leg of the relay-race.
It started on the central square, and then, after the solemn ceremony of the torch lighting the flame was carried along the city streets. The total length of the route was over 5 km. The torchbearers also ran along the road surrounding the “Mir” quarry – the symbol of the city, one of the oldest and biggest diamond fields in Russia.
