The National Association of Financial Directors (NAFD) has developed Russia’s first professional qualification for heads and employees of financial and economic departments. The qualification aims to help financial leaders and highly skilled experts continuously improve their professional skills, advance their careers, actively participate in industry events, and benefit from networking with peers and financial directors.
FBK Partner Anastasia Terekhina has joined the NAFD Supervisory Board, while FBK Partner Ksenia Shirikova has become a member of the NAFD Certification Committee.
Anastasia Terekhina, FBK Partner, emphasised:
“NAFD is not merely replacing the discontinued CIMA and ACCA qualifications but is creating a Russian standard for financial education, ensuring independent assessment and confirmation of expertise. This qualification reflects Russia’s unique business needs and context. It will serve not only as an alternative to international certifications but also as a platform for professional knowledge exchange, networking, and discussions on key financial matters.”
Professionals holding ACCA or CIMA diplomas may join the NAFD association and access all its privileges by confirming their international qualification and paying a registration fee.
Auditors with a valid auditor qualification certificate and a successful career track record may receive credit for all exams passed under their existing diplomas and continue to enhance their professional skills.
In 2025-2026, such specialists may join NAFD under preferential terms.
Those specialists who are at the start of their careers can obtain the NAFD qualification and enjoy the benefits of membership in the financial community.
The qualification consists of two levels:
1. Expert Level: Designed to build and develop core professional knowledge and skills required for careers in finance and economics. It includes 8 mandatory exams.
2. Strategic Level: Focuses on refining competencies in strategic management, improving decision-making quality, and boosting business efficiency. It requires 2 mandatory exams.
To earn the qualification, candidates must pass 10 exams and complete two compulsory modules: an introductory business module and an ethics module. Certificates are issued after each exam and level. Exams will launch in June 2025 and will subsequently be held twice a year (in June and December).
