Rospotrebnadzor and FBK Presented their Report on Protection of Consumers in Financial Field for 2013

FBK managers and specialist took part in the conference on the presentation of the public report of “On the status of consumer protection in financial field in 2013” prepared by Rospotrebnadzor and FBK within the framework of the “Financial education and financial literacy” project by the MOF of Russia and IBRD.

In the conference took part: Andrew Bokarev, the MOF of Russia Department of International Financial Relations director, Olga Krainova, heading the Bank of Russia’s Service for protection of financial service consumers and minority stockholders, Oleg Prusakov, heading the Rospotrebnadzor department of consumer protection, Anna Zelentsova, director of the project for financial literacy improvement, Sergey Shapiguzov, FBK president, Peter Shelish, chairman of Consumers’ Union, and others.

“We have been working in cooperation with Rospotrebnadzor since 2012, and that is already another public report on the protection of financial service consumers the supervisor prepared with our participation,” noted Andrey Sinyagin, the FBK Public Sector Consulting Department director who acted as a moderator at the conference. That report was designed for a wide range of users – it opens up the possibility of public discussion of most urgent problems in the field of protection of consumers.

As Irina Dubinina, the FBK Public Sector Consulting Department deputy director, pointed out, this year some of the paragraphs of the second report were written with the participation of representatives of public consumer associations, of banking, insurance and micro-financial communities, which allowed improving the quality of the report in comparison with the last year.

During the conference under the discussion were regulatory changes in the protection of financial service consumer rights; the trends of financial market development and consumer basic risks, the issues of improving the financial literacy of population and basic lines of improvement in the protection of financial service consumers.
