Rospotrebnadzor and FBK submitted a report on financial consumer rights protection

The press center of The International News Agency Russia Today hosted a conference which featured a public report “On the Status of the Financial Consumer Protection in 2015”. The report was prepared by Rospotrebnadzor teamwise with FBK as part of the Project “Towards enhancement of financial literacy of general public and promotion of financial education in the Russian Federation” carried out under the aegis of the Finance Ministry and the World Bank.

The conference brought together officials from the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, Rospotrebnadzor and its local authorities, the Bank of Russia, representatives from banking, insurance and microfinance communities, public consumer associations and the Project team members.

Among spokespeople were Oleg Prusakov, Head of Consumer Rights Protection Department at Rospotrebnadzor, Olga Krainova, Deputy Head of the Bank of Russia’s Service for Financial Consumer Rights Protection and Minority Shareholders, Irina Dubinina and Igor Baranov from FBK Advisory Services for Public Sector and other speakers.

Andrey Sinyagin, Director of Department of Advisory Services for Public Sector, who moderated the discussion, noted “We have been working with Rospotrebnadzor since 2012. It is for the fourth time that Rospotrebnadzor gives a public presentation on financial consumer rights protection prepared teamwise with us. This report caters to the widest audience, it opens up opportunity to spur public discussion over most pressing issues on financial consumer rights protection.”

The conference participants welcomed the report and follow-up discussion and demonstrated intense interest in making further steps towards strengthening of financial consumer rights protection.
