Alena Ermolenko , Senior Lawyer at Corporate/M&A practice took part at the First Japan-Russia Bar Seminar held in Tokyo.
The seminar has brought together experts from Russian and Japanese law societies and business people. Russian speakers told the audience about the latest developments in legislation aimed to improve investment climate in Russia, specifically dwelling on courts of arbitration, special economic zones, priority development areas and porto franco in the Far East.
Sergey Ermolenko spoke about legal aspects of starting and doing business in Russia.
He noted, “Cooperation between countries of the Asian-Pacific Region is an area of focused attention. I addressed the Japanese audience to tell them about ways to start business in Russia, I tried to at least raise awareness of Japanese business people about registration procedures, hiring practices, requirements of anti-trust authorities and other issues of a typically Russian nature which businessmen usually face when setting up business in this country.”
The First Japan-Russia Bar Seminar was organised by the Federal Chamber of Lawyers of the Russian Federation and the Japan Association of Bar Associations. It’s estimated that this seminar is the largest field-specific event under the auspices of the JFBA this year.
