Movable property valuation

Valuation of movable assets is the process of determining the market value of movable assets such as equipment, vehicles, inventories, and other tangible assets. It involves analysing factors like the property’s age, state, unique features, and market demand. The valuation is conducted to establish the property’s fair value for accounting, insurance, lending, taxation, sale or acquisition purposes.

Valuation of movable property enables clients to:

  • sell assets at the correct price, set auction starting bids, and determine the value of property contributed to charter capital;
  • accurately record movable assets’ value in the company’s financial statements;
  • insure movable property with adequate coverage against loss, damage, or theft;
  • use assets as collateral for loans or other financial services.

The movable property valuation process includes the following stages:

  • Data collection. Identifying valuation objects and collecting the relevant documents, including technical specifications, certificates, handover reports, maintenance history, etc.
  • Physical inspection. Assessing the movable property’s condition, operational functionality, wear and tear, or damages.
  • Market analysis. Reviewing market conditions, similar transactions, and current prices for similar assets.
  • Valuation. Applying appropriate methods to determine market or other value of movable property, these may include such approaches as comparative, cost replacement, or income approach.
  • Report preparation. Drafting a detailed report outlining valuation objects, applied methodology and data, as well as the valuer’s own conclusions.
  • Results presentation. Delivering findings of the movable property’s valuation in a client-friendly format, with explanations and Q&A support.
  • Quality assurance. Ensuring accuracy of the valuation and compliance of the results with standards and regulations.

Upon completion of the movable property valuation, the client receives:

  • Professionally compliant valuation report.
  • Expert review of the valuation report by RSA (Russian Society of Appraisers) (if required).

Precise valuation is key to success in movable asset transactions.
